You know that excitement when you meet a new friend, and you just, click? It’s like you’ve known them forever, before in another life, but you’ve somehow also just met them for the first time – an exciting, adventurous . . . yet peaceful, familiarity.
I’ve felt that way about certain books, the people, places, relationships. It’s an excitement you can feel, opening its covers, about to sink in and lose yourself in a meaningful story. And also, it’s like the comfort of going back home. It’s both. Isn’t it the most special thing?
One of my happiest places is between the pages of a book. It’s why I always look forward to Reese’s Book Club announcement at the beginning of each month. I wait eagerly in anticipation for Reese’s reveal of her latest pick (always with a woman at the centre of the story), checking and rechecking my Instagram feed for the news. Because I know that as a community of book lovers, we’re about to embark on our next great adventure together. What could be more exciting? If you’re a book lover, you know!
