It’s finally here (make the popcorn)!
Former President Barack Obama has continued his annual tradition of sharing his favorite movies and TV shows of the year on Instagram (we’ve been waiting).
Explaining that films (along with literature and music) enhance our daily experiences, Obama writes that “they’re the fabric that helps make up a life – the album that lifts us up after a long day, the dog-eared paperback we grab off the shelf to give to a friend, the movie that makes us think and feel in a new way, works that simply help us to escape for a bit.”
To help you escape and enrich your days this new year, we’ve listed the 21 titles on Obama’s annual list of favourite movies and TV shows of 2019, that he wrote “has become a fun little tradition for me, and I hope it is for you, too.”
And if you happen to a book lover (like us), check out the 19 titles on Obama’s list of favourite books of the year (2019). Music more your style? Make it your goal to listen to the 35 songs on Obama’s list of his favourite music of 2019.

“This year’s movie list includes everything from explorations of class dynamics and relationships, to an inspired remake of a classic graphic novel, to a portal back to one of the most special places in history – an Aretha Franklin concert,” Obama wrote in his Instagram post.
